Sending Hope

It feels like all we’ve seen on the news for the last month is bad news—coronavirus has upended our world, our country, and our community right here at home. But, we’ve never seen our community come together in such a way as now. All over Boston, people are raising money and collecting personal protective equipment for front-line workers. Neighbors are writing encouraging messages on sidewalks for hospital staff.

There is a trend of generosity, kindness, and support in our community that reflects our own values here at the BullPen, and we couldn’t be more proud to call this city home.

There’s some more good news: this year, we have fulfilled 178 requests with an average give of $275. Compare this to just 192 requests fulfilled for all of 2019. We’re on the fast track to making a larger impact in 2020 than ever before.

March 2020 was relatively quiet with just 11 requests filled, but this jumped to 115 filled requests in April—most being grocery gift cards, iPads, and Trac Phones for clients to use to communicate with their organization while social distancing. We’re curious to see where this trend goes over the following months as we navigate this new economic landscape together.

We will continue to show up for those in need throughout this global crisis, because nothing means more to us than giving back to our community at its greatest time of need.

Thank you for supporting the BullPen over the years, and thank you for your continued support throughout this difficult time.

“This pandemic is a world-wide tragedy and it is hard to find a silver lining, but I am hopeful that Americans will see the stark reality of just how uneven the playing field is in this country. I am hopeful that people will see that those who take care of our aging parents, drive our Ubers, clean the hospital floors, and bag our groceries deserve a living wage as well as our respect. I wish, but I am not optimistic, that organizations like the BullPen Project can become unnecessary. But, until that day comes, I thank everyone in your organization for the work you do to help people in these most uncertain times.”
