January, 2021 – Newsletter

We hope this newsletter finds you healthy and happy. This month, we’d like to share a newsletter that’s a bit different from those we’ve typically sent. We want to take time to tell the story of one of our clients to show how our supporters’ generous donations make a difference on a micro level.

I’ve recently fallen onto hard times that eventually led to me digging myself into debt. I had been receiving only $75 in food stamps and a lot of the income I was making was going to buying food for myself.

Last month, I was struggling to find ways to eat, so I was going to my old shelter to get food. There were many days when I would go to work hungry, looking around for food.

I reached out to my managers at More Than Words for any help that I could receive, and they helped me by giving gift cards that were donated by Boston Bullpen Project. I am so grateful for the help that has been given to me.

I have learned from this and will be taking steps to not set myself in a path that may lead to the outcomes mentioned above. If it were not for the resources provided by MTW and Boston Bullpen Project, I would not be in the stable position that I am in right now. This helps me be able to make a financial plan for the upcoming month.

As of now, I have fixed the issue with my food stamp amount being too low, I will not be overspending on buying food. This has also helped me pay off the debt I had with my credit card. I am working on my growth as a person, and I can acknowledge I have a lot of growing to do.

I once again thank those responsible for allowing me to breathe during a moment that was drowning me with stress and anxiety. I feel cared for and it fuels my determination to continue my professional career. This also inspires me—it shows a way I can contribute in the future when I achieve my big ambitions.
